Cosmic Train’s incredible half-mile run carried the 2-year-old son of Klimt to a 1 ¾-length maiden special weight win on Dec. 5 at Fair Grounds (WATCH RACE).
Going a mile in what was the bay’s debut, Cosmic Train settled in the back of the eight-horse field from his outside post. Renati led the field through a half-mile in :45.76, with Cosmic Train some 25 lengths from the front at that point. He began to gain ground, but was still a dozen lengths from the lead at the top of the stretch. With jockey James Graham guiding him through and around horses, Cosmic Train flew past the field in the final furlong to leave track announce John Dooley stunned at the outcome.
Cosmic Train is Klimt’s 22nd winner this year, which is the third-most on the 2021 First-Crop Sire list. Cosmic Train is owned by Delanie Calais, Jr. and was bred by Coteau Grove Farms LLC. He is out of Cosmic Emergency, a stakes-placed half-sister to graded stakes winner Edge of Reality.
